Kindle Fire is a tablet as well as an e-Book reader that has generated plenty of buzz within the tech community, especially amongst some of the younger tech enthusiasts. Not only that it offers these functions, but one of the things that make it so attractive is its fairly low price compared to other products in the market.

It runs on the well known Android OS, but it’s a modified version of it. The Fire is designed to be a media consumption device offering you impressive access to things such as music, video, magazine and easy rebook reading services in an all in one package. Even though  I’m not really that much of a tablet guy myself, besides all the regular tech details that you might want to know about, I also think that a lot of people would relate to me if I simply shared my own story and my view on this device.

First off, one of the greatest things about the Fire is that it offered me all the featured I’d expect out of an iPad but for less than half of the iPads price. It’s simply an amazing device to hold in your hands and it feels that way. You can find out more details about Kindle fire when you click here now!

Kindle Fire Review: Amazing Color Touch screen

The first thing you’ll notice once you pick this device up is the stunning 7” touch screen delivering you up to 16  million colors in hi-res. The good thing about the screen is that it’s made out of similar technology to the iPad making it easy for you to show the screen to other people that are around you.

Kindle Fire Review: Availability

One of the coolest things about the device itself is the way that it makes things available right at your fingertips. You don’t have to look for hours just to find your favorite magazine or video. All you have to do is go to the home screen which offers you everything you have stored in a nice and organized way. You shouldn’t expect anything less from it. All you have to do is use your fingertips to get access to all your favorite content regardless of if you’re in the mood to watch, read or listen. It’s all out there waiting for you!

Kindle Fire Review: Design and dimensions

The device has very small dimensions (7.5 x 4.7 x 0.45 inches) making it easy for you to hold it in one hand in situations where you can’t take advantage of both. Also the display is very durable and it’s been chemically strengthened to offer you more durability as well as resistance to bumps because it’s 30 times harder than plastic. I find that even though the resolution is lower than the iPads it still offers crisp and sharp detail.

Kindle Fire Review: Faster Processor Speeds

Kindle Fire offers you a much faster dual-core processor which in return results in better and more powerful performance. You can stream the web and watch your favorite videos at the same time you are playing some music or downloading something else. The potential of what you can do here is endless.

Kindle Fire Review: Availability of Apps

In case you are a hardcore gamer or simply enjoy spending some of your free time enjoying games then you’d be happy to know that all of the games you’re normally used to are available at your fingertips as well. The top game developers such as Zynga, EA, Gameloft, PopCap, Rovio, etc, have already made their applications available for Kindle Fire and so you’ll be able to enjoy your favorite games as soon as you get your hands on it. Some of them include Angry Birds, Words with Friends, Plants vs Zombies, just to name a few. And not only that, but you don’t have to spend lots if even anything on apps because you are automatically going to get one paid app for free on a daily basis.

Kindle Fire Review: Cloud Storage, Music & Books

Like I said at the beginning of this review, this is a device used for mostly media consumption. You no longer have to worry about memory because Amazon Cloud Storage is there to offer you all the storage you need. Feel free to store all the digital content you want in your Amazon Cloud including music, books and movies that you can download with a single tap and most of them are for free as well. Besides that, you’ll have access to over 18 million of your favorite songs and thousands of books right at your fingertips. Most books start at around $9.99. The music can be downloaded into either your Amazon Cloud or the device itself so you can enjoy it.

Kindle Fire Review: Color choices

As far as I’m aware it’s available in black only. Click here to get your Kindle Fire today!

Kindle Fire Review: Additional Features

You’ll notice that there’s only one button, a speaker unit and a mini USB input that you can use to operate your device. You can do pretty much everything else by using the touch screen which is great because it’s simple to use. I haven’t had any bad experiences with the touch screen functions and everything has been easy to clean so far. All you have to do to access your settings is to tap the screen once.

Kindle Fire Review: Storage

It comes with 8GB of internal storage. I use my cloud storage most of the time, but if you prefer to keep things in the device then this is perfect. You can put lots of music and videos in it.

Kindle Fire Review: Battery Life

When you are using it constantly it runs for around 7-8 hours. I believe that it lasts longer if you are doing mostly reading. If you decide to watch videos it’s mostly going to last you around 7 or so hours. The charge takes 4 hours approximately.

Kindle Fire Review: Included Accessories

Inside the box you’ll get the Kindle Fire device itself, a US power adapter as well as a quick start guide.

Kindle Fire Review: Pros

The device itself is an Ipad killer due to the fact that it packs so much performance and I think that it’s a great entry for Amazon into the whole tablet market. It’s the perfect device when it comes to media consumption and the price point is especially what’s making it so appealing. You’ll get all the bonuses the amazon offers as well such as daily free apps, access to their huge database at major discounts, etc. You should seriously consider it if you are in the market for a media device to take advantage of on the move. The price makes it even more attractive.

Kindle Fire Review: Cons

One of the cons is the lack of cameras as well as external storage options for people who want to store everything in the device itself. Also the lack of 3G connectivity might put off some people as well.

Kindle Fire Review: Consumer Ratings

4.0 on Amazon. If you take a look at the chart most customers gave it a 5/5. That means that it’s well above average. Convinced? Get your kindle fire over in Amazon today which offers the best price, fastest delivery with the safest online transaction!

Kindle Fire Review: Price

Like I said at the beginning, one of the things that make this tablet so attractive is its amazing price point. It’s available right now for $199 through Amazon. That’s more than twice less than the cost of a new iPad which packs pretty much the same performance making it a true bargain.

  1. i am most enticed by the affordable pricing…agree with Sharon 343 that 199 for a tablet PC is really tempting..especially since ipad cost 300 bucks more..

should i get this as a xmas gift for my boyfriend? hmm..so tempted right now..i can imagine him using the kindle to watch movies and shows on the tube while going to work..using it to read books, chat with me on whats app and play games…hee :)

    • Absolutely. I would say that getting a kindle fire at $199 is a real steal as compared to getting an IPAD 2 or similar type of tablets that could easily cost you up to $499. Although the features and apps in kindle fire is not as much as Ipad, but it is just a matter of time they will catch up with apple.

  2. Looks good, but the fact that it lacks of 3G is literally shooting itself in the foot! But having the wifi should be more than enough for now, consider it is a good bargain as a gift for Dad coming birthday!

  3. Actually i second that, most of us are using a smart phone these days and they already have the ability to broadcast their 3G network as wifi to nearby devices such as the Kindle fire. I would say there is NO NEED at all to have 3G. This kindle fire is going to be a Ipad 2 killer. I am going to get. Thanks for the good review and the your hyperlink (it makes my job so much easier =).

  4. I couldn’t agree more with your kindle fire review. It speaks well and the second year warranty is just $44.95. That is so CHEAP compared to my IPAD 2 which cost like 197$. Luckily i found your post or i will be making a mistake to get my second ipad 2 again for my husband.

  5. This is a good review. This is going to be my Thanks Giving and Christmas gift. Save my headache of choosing Ipad 2 or other tablets. Kindles Fire is clearly the winner.

  6. Kindle fire is going to be a real killer. I have just ordered 3 from your sites and thanks for giving such a wonderful review. I think my wife is going to love. I planning to give her a little small surprise about it.

  7. I really like the Fire, but is a bit too heavy.

  8. Kindle Fire is my first ever purchased tablet, I am not a very tech person so i don’t own a smartphone like Iphone or Andriod device. I am much towards the tech savvy kinds, and the learning experience for kindle fire is really fun.

I had absolutely no problem at all playing MP4′s, it’s perhaps one of the first few things things that I tried when i purchased kindle fire. The browser is more than adequate and run smoothly even with only 1 bar signal, outside in a shop with 2 exterior walls and 4 interior walls between me and my router.

I have always wanted an e-reader very much and this fit the price. I love it. So far it has met all my expectations.

Remember, this is just a $200 device, and it basically can do everything a normal tablet can do so what more can i expect.

The only downside for me is its storage. I’m a bit old fashioned, thus i always prefer my content to be on my device rather on Cloud storage. But i guess, this is just the trend where the market is going and i should be learning too.

Yap, Kindle Fire is married to Amazon. Its a $200 device that cost approximately $209 to manufacture. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Amazon, they are a highly trusted company and i simply love them. All goods are always delivered on time.

Root it, download and install any apps you love from the Android Market. There are good tutorials out there. It’s small enough for you to carry all around (just like a mini notebook) and slightly bigger than your smartphone.

    Thumbs up for Kindle Fire

  9. I think we need to stop comparing the Kindle Fire with the iPad. They are actually different products and catered for the needs of different people. I owned both the Ipad and Kindle Fire and i must say they compliment each other very well. I used kindle fire for reading as this it is a much smaller device compared to Ipad and can be bulky to carry around. Kindle Fire is just like a mini-organizer plus ebook while the Ipad provides me with a bigger screen to watch movie with my wife at night.

And if she decided to watch a different movies as i wanted initially, i would just pass the Ipad to my wife and i use the Fire to watch the movies that i wanted. The Kindle Fire is really perfect for me. I must say that i am a happy owner of the device.

Let not compare this device with other $500.00+ tablets. You pay $199. for the Fire.

    • Great post David. Personally I owned the kindle fire too, it is very good as an ebook reader, oganizer, browsing the web and play some games. It is still a new tablet and Amazon is still new to this field.

So there will always be some occasional slow down. But the update for kindle fire will be quite frequent to provide people like us with the best user experience.

  10. This is a very interesting gadgets. I agree that to judge this tablet with regards to other kind of tablets, we could be making a huge mistakes.

If you just judge this as a $200 Kindle Fire with a beautiful colour touch screen, and a myriad of bonuses like a good decent browser, music and video streaming, and some cool apps support, then it really comes out as a lot more appealing. I would definitely get one for my friends or wife birthday as these gave me a more economical alternative. However, it might not be very appealing to those who are looking for high end gadgets or tablets.

And you need to keep in mind that people were actually happily paying close to $150 for the e-ink version that comes a long with a terrible browser and no extra bonuses that kindle fire comes along with just because it was a killer book reader.

The Fire as a Kindle with so many extras features, is really amazing.

As a general purpose tablet, or as an organizer, video or music streaming, i would say this is a tablet that I will get for my wife.

  11. I’ve been working with my kindle fire for close to a week – and i must say i am having a lot of fun with it. Thumbs up for this device. I am not being bias saying these as i found it to be extremely easy to navigate and use (given that i am a complete tech idiot.

There are some times where the screen do not respond that well and i have to give an extra “tap” so that the Fire would take me to the apps that i wanted to go. But this is not a problem at all with me since the kindle developer said they are giving more software updates to rectify the problems.

I tried the Angry bird and it runs pretty smoothly! There are a lot of apps to choose from since it is using the andriod apps market. If you are a gamer that goes for some retro games. The Andriod market has some amazing emulators and that includes Playstation 1, Sega, Nintendo, N64 and many others.. (cannot remember). I jumped right to download the PS1 and going to test it soon.

The battery life is not that bad. I finished lord of the rings part 1, 2 and a bit of 3 before it runs flat. So all in all. I would say it is a great device. Planning to get one for my son who is University as an organizer. I believe he would love it. =)

    • Thanks for your great comments conrad. I love kindle fire just as much as you have. Although there are some flaws such as slow in react when “tap”, but this is really a small bits of problem since the software would be consistently updated to cover up the flaw. One thing to add, which i forgot to say. Although $200 sounds cheap when compared to Ipad or other comparable tablets. BUT, when you start holding it onto your hands, you would not feel this is a cheap or third class device. In fact, it holds just as classy as ipad but just being smaller. As i said, like an organizer.

  12. I am curious for how it does outside. I have been told the older Kindles do very well, but with the glare and color, is it easily read when outside?

    • Hi Lynn,

The kindle fire will do exactly well when compared to older kindles. More colourful and the contrast is pretty well done when carried outside. However, the only difference that i would say is the battery life. It is a lot shorter than the older kindle fire which is like 36 hours but the new Fire only last you about 8 hours.

But you have to taken into account for the beautiful graphics, images, music, games and movies which the older kindle cannot do. =)

  13. Comment.
I agree with many of the comments. I have an Ipad2. My husband needs a reader and web browser to use during his lunch time. The Kindle Fire will be perfect for him. He still uses a day planner and the Kindle Fire will fit snugly into the pocket of the planner. He does not need the camera as it has been noted that most phones have that ability. For the cost, this is by far, one of the best choices out there this year for a tablet.

  14. Hello from Russia! Just purchased the kindle find and find it to be absolutely amazing. Love it, especially the additional warranty is relatively cheap as compared to the Ipad 2! Thanks for the great review.
